Michigan football expert roundtable (2024 edition): How do the Wolverines follow up their 2023 title run?
This post is unlocked and available for all readers
We’ve finally made it to game week, everyone. To celebrate the fact that this is a thing that’s actually happening, I’m rolling out one of the more popular staples of this newsletter since I started it in 2020 — the expert roundtable.
It’s pretty self-explanatory: I rounded up a diverse group of Michigan football experts and asked them 15+ questions related to the Wolverine football program and the upcoming season. And make no mistake about it, this feature wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of the members of the Michigan media (their social handles are on the grid, along with their publications — I highly encourage supporting all of their work).
We got 19 experts to participate in 2020, 15 in 2021, 20 in 2022 and then 24 last season. This time around we’ve got 22 for our second largest panel yet. This group includes folks from local and national outlets, from print and digital publications, from written to audio formats and everything in between. The only commonality between everyone is they’re all tasked with providing coverage of Michigan athletics — so this group of experts isn’t just large, it’s very qualified.
Here’s a full accounting of this year’s panel:
The Detroit News' Angelique Chengelis
The Athletic's Austin Meek
The Detroit Free Press’ Tony Garcia
MLive.com's Ryan Zuke
MGoBlog's Seth Fisher
WTKA's Sam Webb and Ira Weintraub
WolverineWire's Isaiah Hole
Wright Media Group's Ant Wright
BlueByNinety's Justin Roh
Chris And Company’s Chris Castellani
On3.com's Chris Balas, Anthony Broome and Clayton Sayfie
247Sports' Zach Shaw, Steve Lorenz and Alejandro Zúñiga
Rivals.com’s Trevor McCue and Brock Heilig
The Michigan Daily's Lys Goldman and Noah Kingsley
And me. Scott Bell.
Here are the grids with everyone’s selections. The final of the four grids includes two columns that tally up everyone’s votes and displays the two most popular responses for each question.
