Another game, another emphatic win for No. 2 Michigan, which has now outscored Big Ten opponents by a gaudy 180-31 margin through the first four weeks of conference play.
If we rope in the non-conference slate, too, and take a look at the first seven games of the season, Michigan is now +229 in scoring differential. The Wolverines are the first Big Ten team in more than 115 years to score at least 30 points in every game and allow 14 or fewer points during that same span. If it wasn’t for a wild finish to the first half against Minnesota, Michigan would have held all of its opponent to seven or fewer points. Crazy stuff.
Because we’re dealing with yet another blowout and I’m worried about the monotony of same-ole, same-ole after each game, I’m going to try something new for my Michigan-Indiana analysis. I’m going to veer away from the usual “The Good, The Bad and the TBD” “quick takeaway” format and instead go a little longer-form and share my four main takeaways from Michigan’s blowout win, then share about five additional quick-hit takeaways at the end of this piece (~5,500 words).
Let’s get to it.
