A couple quick notes at the top before diving headfirst into Michigan’s biggest news of the week that was — the hiring of new offensive coordinator hire Chip Lindsey:
First: I’m hoping everyone saw the announcement on Wednesday about some signed U-M football memorabilia I’ll be giving away for seven straight days starting later tonight. If you missed it, here are details on how you can win.
Second: Thanks to everyone who stopped by and participated in our premium subscriber Q&A on Thursday and Friday. Lots of good questions this time around. You can see a full accounting of all the questions and answers here.
Third: You’ll notice a bit of a rebrand/refresh around here when it comes to banners/logos/etc. Those are all courtesy of Nick Finn at NiFi Design, who has done great work for this newsletter in the past, and is someone I highly recommend if you’re ever in the market for design needs. You can find him at @nifi22 on Twitter/X and @nifi22.bsky.social on BlueSky.
With that out of the way, let’s get to a closer look at the big news of this past week — Chip Lindsey is the Wolverines’ new offensive coordinator. Below the paywall jump, I’ll share my takeaways on the hire, including where he appeared on my wish list, how I feel about his fit on a few different levels, a closer look at his coaching pedigree and what his hire may mean for portal pursuits in the coming days and weeks (especially with today’s news of former Maryland QB Billy Edwards trending away from the Wolverines).
