2023 Big Ten season preview (offense): Why it's no longer 'Ohio State and then everyone else'

Over the next few weeks, I’ll roll out some Big Ten-centric previews as we inch closer to Big Ten Media Days and the “official” start of the 2023 college football season. Then I’ll narrow in more specifically on Michigan’s season, and go deep on a number of various Wolverine-centric previews.
For today, let’s take a look at an offensive preview for the 2023 Big Ten season. Next week, the focus will shift to the defensive side of the ball.
As for offense, if you’ve been following the conference for the past decade-plus, you know it’s largely been a case of Ohio State being the Big Dog with the explosive offense, and then 13 other teams trying to catch up (…and failing). And while the pieces are there for the Buckeyes to have another dynamic offense — their RB and WR rooms are both probably in the top 5 nationally — is this the year where the Big Ten finally shifts from being “Ohio State and then everyone else” and another team or teams steps up to give the Buckeyes legitimate competition at the top? I don’t want to give everything away in the intro of this newsletter, but the answer isn’t no. And it rhymes with bless.
So let’s jump into the preview, where I’ll rank the Big Ten’s best players by position, share my 1st-, 2nd-, 3rd- and 4th-team All-Big Ten Offense teams, and also introduce the All-Transfer Team on the offensive side of the ball.
